Death and love have been intertwined by authors through the ages. Mutual death being the ultimate level of romantic commitment, or the act of securing a jealous partner's commitment to the other, either through suicide or homocide. That being said, here's my addition to that theme.
The
twilight clouds begin to shed their silver for coal
The
silence of songbirds once soothing now deafens
A
gentle breeze whispers assurances of imminent death
The
rustle of dying leaves are voices of laughter inside our troubled
minds
We
know what we must do
Inside
this chalice swirls slumber
A
toast from a goblet divine
Nectar
of Gods let us pass by our fathers
On
shores of eternal sands
Drink
till your eyelids weigh heavy
Take
this cup from me, my love
Sleep
until morning’s no longer approaching
Die
in my arms, Die with me
I
can’t bear to leave you to tarry
Your
journey continues with me
I’ll
not have you lie in the bed of another
Together
in life, one in death
Swallowing
immortal elixir
Ensures
us a union beyond
Endless
our passion, undying affection
Timeless
our lust and our love
As
the cold blackness of death draws nigh
The
twilight minutes begin to crumble into fragments of life’s final
seconds
Our
slowness of breathing, once peaceful, now threatens
A
gentle kiss whispers assurances of imminent passing
The
stillness of our dying bodies are echoes
of the laughter once found inside our waning minds
We
know what we must do
