Leechbreed

Wrote this tonight while watching an episode of The Strain. I find it pretty cool when one artistic medium inspires another.

My eyelids fall as the sun, enveloping me in black
My shadow rises and bares the confidence of its teeth
The sheep know not the wolf masquerading in their midst
Circumvention of the shepherd, leaving lambs defenseless and weak

Consuming one's blood, adorned with the flesh of another
Converting the dead to my fold, subtle infection of mind
An army of soulless to command, their undying allegiance my strength
A liege to the expanding realm of the infested and blind

A genderless breed of leprous calls me father, bearing my image
My voice upon their tongue, my bidding not to be averted
An ancient oath bound and sealed, they to I, and I to them
The rats bear witness, the worms fulfill, the leeches will ensure it
